Burke Industries Knowledgebase

This knowledgebase is for the people who commission and manage site work in Queensland. That includes facility managers planning a refurbishment, project managers sequencing a demolition, council and government officers writing a scope or checking a tender, and owners who need to know what the law asks of them before work starts.

Each guide answers one practical question. When does asbestos removal need a Class A licence? When must demolition be notified to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland? When can soil not leave a site without a disposal permit? We write from the work we do across Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, but the rules come from the source. Every guide cites the Queensland legislation, regulator guidance or Australian Standard it relies on, with links, so you can check the requirement yourself and quote it in a scope or report.

The guides are grouped into the five topics below. Where a rule has changed, the guide gives the date. For example, low density asbestos board has been classed as friable since May 2021. If your question isn't covered, contact our Toowoomba office.
