Fire hydrant and hose reel guides
Fire hydrants and hose reels are prescribed fire safety installations, and occupiers carry legal duties for them long after installation. These guides explain when the National Construction Code requires hydrants and hose reels. They cover which Australian Standards apply to design, installation and routine service: AS 2419.1, AS 2441 and AS 1851. They also set out what Queensland's Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 asks of occupiers, including maintenance records, defect repairs within one month and occupier statements. They cover the QBCC fire protection licence classes, so you can check a contractor holds the right class for the work. Finally, they explain Toowoomba Regional Council's backflow prevention requirements for connections to its water network.
